The Cycle of Love

A love story so impossibly romantic that it is still taught in Swedish primary schools. In 1975, a young Indian man named P.K., falls in love with Lotta, who is Swedish. When she returns home, he gets on a second-hand bicycle with hardly any money in his pocket, embarking on a journey of over 10,000 kilometres to find her again.

What follows is a trek through unknown lands, over mountain passes and across endless landscapes, constantly relying on the help of strangers he meets along the way. P.K. is a Dalit, a so-called 'untouchable': born at the bottom of the Indian caste system, destined for a life of poverty and exclusion. At the same time, an astrologer made an extraordinary prediction at his birth about his future love. Meeting Lotta in New Delhi seems to bring this prophecy to pass. But when she fails to keep her promise to come back and see him, that becomes the question.

Oscar-winning director Orlando von Einsiedel (The White Helmets) brings this true story to life by retracing the journey with P.K. and a young actor portraying him.
