Film director Esteban Martínez (Javier Bardem) is a legend, both for his films and his turbulent past full of violence and excess. For his new project, he casts his daughter Emilia (Victoria Luengo), ostensibly to breathe new life into her stalled acting career. During filming, they grow closer again, but old, unresolved tensions also surface.
