What do The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, punk rock, and Mother Teresa have in common? More than you think, according to North Macedonian director Teona Strugar Mitevska. Her anything-but-traditional biopic Mother premiered at last year's Venice Film Festival, where the director declared she wanted to 'demystify' Mother Teresa. Played by Noomi Rapace – who shot to fame as Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish Millennium series – the film is set over seven fictional days in the life of the Albanian-Indian Teresa. She’s portrayed not so much as a saint, but more as a CEO determined to whip her religious order into shape. Complete with screaming guitars on the soundtrack.
