Epidemic

The script a director and screenwriter spent 18 months working on suddenly vanishes from their computer screen. Undeterred, they embark with renewed enthusiasm on a new screenplay about a global plague, unaware of the epidemic sweeping through the real world in which they live and work. Starring Lars von Trier himself as Dr. Messmer, the film unfolds as a bizarre surrealistic journey into the process of filmmaking.

The now rarely screened Europa trilogy - of which Epidemic is the second installment - marked the major breakthrough for cult Danish director Lars von Trier (Dancer in the Dark, Dogville, The Idiots).
