During their final walk along the Loire, a filmmaker's father tells his son about the books of his youth. His favourite hero is Gilgamesh, a tyrant whose enemy Enkidu becomes his best friend, yet who still cannot prevent his violent death.

After his father's death, the son discovers that he had omitted a crucial element of the story: inconsolable, Gilgamesh set off in search of a remedy for death. This revelation connects the filmmaker to the discovery of dozens of text documents on the computer of his father, a mathematician. For years, he had recorded all his spending of time and money with mathematical precision. As if he were searching for a formula or a remedy.
